Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
Political competition is a key element in democratic governance, as it shapes voter behavior, political alignment, and the overall electoral process. In Zuru LGA, Kebbi State, political competition is intense, with multiple political parties and candidates vying for power in local elections. This competition significantly influences voter preferences, party allegiance, and overall participation in the electoral process (Mohammed & Ahmed, 2024). 1.2 Statement of the Problem
